A to Z Challenge: N is for “Noel Coward: A Talent to Amuse”

N is for “Noel Coward: A Talent to Amuse” by Sheridan Morley.

Noel Coward was born in 1899 and from an early age  was acting to help support his family. He eventually became a playwright, actor, singer, novelist and songwriter. He starred in movies and in many of his own plays.  I associate him, always, with the song he wrote, “Mad Dogs and Englishmen”.

This biography outlines the events of Coward’s life and shows  us the man he was. Coward has been called witty and flamboyant, elegant and outrageous, and was a person for his age.  He was very popular in the period between the wars although his career lasted through six decades.

I knew very little about Noel Coward before I read this biography, although I had read his novel, “Pomp and Circumstance”. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about onteresting lives.
